Quote

Tim Ferriss on how we’re all flawed, even our idols:

“The superheroes you have in your mind (idols, icons, elite athletes, billionaires, etc) are nearly all walking flaws who’ve maximized one or two strengths. Humans are imperfect creatures. You don’t “succeed” because you have no weaknesses; you succeed because you find your strengths and focus on developing habits around them. Everyone is fighting a battle [and has fought battles] you know nothing about. Everyone struggles”.

Ideas From Me

I.

Most people give too much time to things outside their control that don’t change their life much and too little time to things inside their control that would change their life entirely.

II.

Want to get out of a rut?

Fix your sleep.
Then your diet.
And then start working out.

What we assume is a lack of purpose or drive is often a lack of energy.

Working on your physiology improves your psychology.

Fixing your hardware helps the software run better.

III.

Do more things that make you forget about your phone.

Article

“The need to maximize time was kind of the original ambition. It sits at the intersection of industrial capitalism, where time is money, and the Protestant work ethic, where time is worth. The larger system we exist in shapes so much of time, as well as how and when different parts of life unfold. When we fall “behind,” it gets positioned as a moral failing when in reality, it is personal experiences bumping up against “cultural norms that valorize speed.”

As someone who often feels “behind,” this article encouraged me.

Interesting concept here in this thread from Sahil Bloom.

Time is our most valuable asset.

Let’s live like it.

Question

What is the most neglected area of your life right now? What steps can you take today to give this area more attention?
